Hein Vanhaezebrouck sent a message around on Tuesday, including to the press agency Belgian, in which he wants to respond to the allegations that fell to him in the file ‘Clean Hands‘, the fraud investigation in Belgian football.
“I wish to respond to the various media reports that link me to the Clean Hands investigation,” Vanhaezebrouck said in a statement. “The insinuations that I have received payments in black through structures set up by players’ agent Mogi Bayat are completely out of the blue. I was neither charged nor questioned for these facts. For the rest, I cooperate fully and transparently with the authorities. I have nothing to hide.’
‘I was and am compensated very correctly and in line with the market by KAA Gent. The amounts quoted in the press are simply incorrect and therefore lead to misleading reporting. In fact, because of the club’s highly exceptional results in the period in question, my employment contracts and the remuneration contained therein were revised several times. All tax obligations were complied with,’ he says.
‘How Mr Bayat manages his affairs, of course, has nothing to do with me. Finally, I would also like to say that I deeply regret that there are apparently people who find it necessary to violate their professional secrecy by leaking data from a criminal file in which I am not involved at all, just for some media -get attention.’
The 57-year-old coach emphasizes that he will not comment further about this affair.
