Usury and threatened businessman and his accomplice

The two Cilentans who ended up in handcuffs yesterday morning are accused of usury and extortion. They are a 52-year-old entrepreneur and a 39-year-old, both originally from the municipality of Orria, but the first long-time resident in Agropoli. The two known, already known to the police for criminal records, including drug dealing, were arrested by the Carabinieri of the Companies of Vallo and Agropoli who executed the order for the application of a personal precautionary measure issued by the investigating judge at the Court of Vallo. Numerous victims of the two usurers who acted to the detriment of both commercial operators and private citizens of a vast Cilento area. The arrest came at the end of the investigation conducted by the Investigative Unit which allowed to collect a substantial evidence against the two offenders, thanks to which various usurious and extortionate conducts, committed between 2017 and 2018. In particular, according to the elements gathered, the two usurers would have made themselves promise and then materially give, for loans granted by them, decidedly usury interest: in one circumstance, against a loan of one thousand euros, they demanded the repayment , over 12 months, of interest equal to one hundred percent for a total amount, therefore, of two thousand euros. Furthermore, the fifty-two-year-old took care of overcoming the resistance of the victims of usury, not hesitating to threaten to hit them with a baseball bat, so as to force them to hand over the sums due as usurious interests. Again the latter, in one circumstance, which occurred in the summer of 2018 in Agropoli, proposing to a local entrepreneur, already a victim of intimidating acts, the possibility of undergoing further arson attacks to the detriment of the mechanical means of his company, had asked for the sum of six thousand euros as consideration for his interest and his intercession with the authors of the previous attacks. An amount which, for reasons not yet ascertained, had not been materially paid. The two Cilentans had become the nightmare of their victims. Entrepreneurs or ordinary citizens who, forced by desperate needs, had to resort to loans granted by loan sharks. The police investigations started with the complaint presented by one of the victims, tired of being subjected to constant threats and requests for money. One of the two offenders in the past has already been arrested in a raid on drug dealing from the town of Orria.
