Erik ten Hag can say little about the possible transfer of Mohamed Ihattaren to Ajax. The nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder seems to be making the switch from Juventus after he had a good conversation with Ten Hag. In front of ‘s camera ESPN says the trainer that he only wants to talk about Ihattaren if there is indeed a transfer.

“Nothing”, Ten Hag responds just before the cup match against Excelsior Maassluis when asked what he can say about the transfer. “Let’s talk about Excelsior. We never talk about transfers. There are so many players associated with us or players of ours who are in the spotlight. If we have something to say, we will do it. So let’s talking about the game.” At the moment, the trainer simply cannot say anything about Ihattaren, he indicates. “If he is an Ajax player, you can ask me everything about it. It’s not that far.”

Also in the studio of ESPN Ihattaren’s possible move was discussed on Thursday evening. According to Marciano Vink, the chance of success depends on the attitude with which the talent comes to Amsterdam. “Does he accept that he is calmly brought through Jong Ajax? Then it could work. If he thinks he has the same status as he once had under Van Bommel, then it is a lost cause. Then I can also tell you: then Ajax is much harder than PSV will ever be.”

Ihattaren left PSV last summer for Juventus, which immediately rented him out to Sampdoria. Ihattaren never played for that club. His former teammate Cody Gakpo hopes that the youngster can breathe new life into his career, even if that is at Ajax. “No, I am not in contact with Mo today. I hope he is doing well. I myself hope that he can enjoy playing football. It would be a shame if he goes to our competitor, but those are the choices he has to make himself.” , says Gakpo after PSV’s victory over Telstar (2-1).

Gakpo was brought in at the start of the second half. He played longer than expected, because PSV was having a hard time. “If the coach needs me, I have to be there. He calmed me down. I want to play, so I would prefer to play the entire game. We created more chances in the second half, but they have to be there in.” Analyst Kees Kwakman also saw PSV play better in the second half. “Gakpo is just great: he immediately takes action. In the choices he makes he may be a bit too selfish, Eran Zahavi was angry with him once when he didn’t get the ball, but there is so much threat from it. It is makes a world of difference when he participates.”
