It was during the first lockdown in May 2020 that Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku treated their huge following to an Instagram Live conversation.
Suddenly the training course of the Belgian Football Association came up, for which the duo signed up. Both De Bruyne and Lukaku were deeply impressed by Thomas Vermaelen during the lessons.
“He’s really incredible,” Lukaku began the hymn. “Next year he will be our second coach”, said De Bruyne prophetically.
Lukaku nodded affirmatively: “Not until next year. We will still need him next year (at the European Championships, ed.). But the task he had made was impressive.”
