Bouchervillo skater Émy Carignan and her partner Bryan Pierro started the new year in style when they won the bronze medal in the junior category at the Canadian Championships held in Ottawa from January 9 to 12.
The skaters achieved their best score of the season with 133.85 points. Proud of their performance, it is an excellent motivation for them for the next season.
Their goal is to participate in their first international competition.
Émy is enrolled in the sports-studies program at De Mortagne high school. She represents the Boucherville Figure Skating Club. The young athlete began practicing this discipline at the age of four, and trains 20 hours a week, on and off the ice. Bryan, on the other hand, is 21 years old and studies at CEGEP. He is a member of the Saint-Hubert Skating Club.
Last year, the couple took part in the Canadian Championships, but following an accident during the warm-up of the short program, they could not finish the competition. Émy fortunately recovered from her injury and was able to continue her training.
