Vincent Kompany will not be lured out of a room about the decision of KV Mechelen

Last weekend a piece of Kafka was performed in the Jupiler Pro League. KV Mechelen refused to play, OHL pretended it was going to play… Vincent Kompany is no longer afraid of such things now that he has been around in our competition two years ago.

“What happened to Mechelen? I am a corona coach,” he laughed. “I’ve been in it for two years and I’m working on my team. I’ve seen the craziest things happen for two years. I’m going to focus on what I can influence. Although I have to take my hat off to the guys with us. We actually have a fairly quiet period in corona times.”

But did he understand Mechelen’s decision not to play. “(hesitates) Look, I believe everyone is honest. I also have a lot of respect for the trainer of Mechelen (Wouter Vrancken). If he thought they should press the pause button, I assume they had good intentions. My personal opinion? (hesitates again) It’s not the time for that, I think. I just like to watch football on the weekend.”
