This morning, in the Red room of the municipality of Savona, the mayor Marco Russo and the councilor for Sport Francesco Rossello presented the “Savonesi sportsmen in the world” award to athletes, instructors and referees of the territory who participated in the Tokyo Olympics of the last summer. The award consisted of a certificate and a ceramic fish made by the artist Adriana Olivari.
“Savona must be proud of its athletes who have represented the whole country and our city at the highest international levels – says Mayor Marco Russo – Savona’s representation was varied not limited to the national synchronized swimming team, a true excellence of our city, but also involving other disciplines, a sign of an important vitality in the sports world “.
“The Savona sports award in the world is the recognition of the whole city for the sacrifice and commitment of our athletes – declares the commissioner Rossello – Each of them plays a role of witness and must be a model for the many young people who play sport . For this reason, as an administration we would like to institutionalize the Savona sports award in the world, because through it, it is possible to make known and valued the many Savona people, often involved in so-called minor sports, who manage to establish themselves at the highest international levels “.
These are the awarded athletes: Enrica Berlingieri – canoe; Chiara Rebagliati – archery; Fulvio Cantini – archery; Matteo Orsi – table tennis; Sandro Boraschi – weightlifting; Federica Sala, Costanza Di Camillo, Linda Cerruti, Costanza Ferro, Domiziana Cavanna, Mirco Ferrari and Patrizia Giallombardo – synchronized swimming.
