It may be four long years in disability sport between the Paralympics, but the launch of the British Wheelchair Basketball Women’s Premier League this weekend promises to bring plenty of excitement in the meantime.
With the creation of four new franchises, supported by the universities in which they are based, it will be the first para-sport professional league to be organized in the UK and the first of its kind in the world for women’s wheelchair basketball.
The sport has been one of the most popular at the Paralympic Games, with the Great Britain men’s team winning bronze medals in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, and the new venture will be boosted by live broadcasts on the BBC, starting this afternoon, when the
