TV4 News | X National Interzone Championship: The main golf tournament by region began

The X National Interzone Championship began with great emotions in the impressive field of Las Cañadas Country Club. There are 105 golfers from five areas of Mexican golf who seek to lift the highly prized Challenge Cup, won by the Golf Association of the Valley of Mexico, in 2020.

The main category, ‘Championship’ is led so far by the Association of Golf Clubs of the North (-2), a team made up of Fernando Castillo (+2), from La Herradura Golf Club; Gonzalo Gallegos (-1), from Las Misiones Club Campestre; and Guillermo Farías (-1), from the Monterrey Country Club.

The canyons that the host club has make the experience of this championship more challenging, which brings together the best golfers from each golf region of the country. In the first round, there were those who knew how to make the most of the fairway.

“We found the field in good condition, a little wet, but quite good. He made us struggle in some holes, but others were good for us and we finished with 71”, commented Guillermo Farías, member of the leading team in the ‘Championship’ category.

After the first round, the other leading zones in this tournament, sponsored by Taylor Made, Unifin, Conade, Macame, Tequila Orendain and Coca Cola, are:
