Spa-Francorchamps work in an advanced stage

The legendary circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is currently undergoing a major renovation. The track in the Belgian Ardennes is currently being adapted on many points to ensure that motorcycle races can also be organized on the circuit in the near future. Significant work is also taking place around the track, grandstands are being tackled and the infrastructure was outdated.

The track has come under increasing criticism in recent years. For example, the circuit would be too dangerous, based on several serious accidents in the past. The circuit will therefore be provided with larger run-off areas and more gravel pits in several places, also because this is necessary to get the correct permit for the motorcycle races.

Currently, several new gravel pits and run-off lanes are being built on the circuit. For example, in Bruxelles a gravel pit is being constructed to replace the run-out strip that used to be there. In Blanchimont, the run-off strip is also being expanded. In the first part of the bend, a new gravel box will also be constructed. The necessary changes are also made in the well-known first bend La Source. In addition, adjustments are made in several corners, including in Eau Roug/Raidillon.

So the necessary things are also tackled around the job. The well-known chalet has already been demolished and the recognizable old grandstand has also been razed to the ground. They are now working hard on the construction of a new, more modern grandstand. In addition, the grandstand must also fit better with the environment in which it stands.
