The image is “a troublesome old man”, but … The reason why many students were fascinated by Nomura’s ID baseball “Move players according to the data” is a misunderstanding | PRESIDENT Online

Director Katsuya Nomura, who died two years ago, was synonymous with “ID baseball.” Masato Yoshii of Chiba Lotte, a student, said, “Many people misunderstand the meaning of ID baseball. Director Nomura was not the director who tried to move the players according to the data.”

Good leaders are good at communicating

In this column, I will introduce the leaders who have influenced me in coaching.

What they all have in common is that they are good at communicating with the players. The method is different for each person, but everyone has captured the hearts of the players.

Communication is the most important point in coaching.

After all, putting players first and motivating them also begins with communication.

Even if you listen to the advice, if the communication is not good, the players will not be ready to listen. If you make a mistake, the player will go in the wrong direction.

There are many different types of people, so there is more than one way. Please refer to the communication techniques of the directors introduced here in order to communicate well with each person and guide them to a way of thinking that clears their own problems.

At first, I didn’t understand the intention of “a troublesome old man”

In the spring of 1995, he transferred from Kintetsu to Yakult Swallows by trade between the end of the camp and the opening. The director of Yakult at that time was Katsuya Nomura.

Mr. Nomura’s image was “a troublesome old man”. I was frustrated when I failed.
