This is information that will certainly delight sports enthusiasts: Thomas Sénécal, originally from Ablon, very close to Honfleur, has just been appointed Director of Sports for the Canal+ group. From July 1, 2022 he will replace Thierry Cheleman, the current sports boss of Canal +
Thomas Sénécal’s career began here, in Honfleur, with our colleague at the time “L’Éveil Honfleurais” as a local press correspondent while he was still a student Then he joined the Hersant group and the newspaper “Havre Presse », today, Paris Normandy.
Very quickly, Thomas will turn to television and in 1998 he joined the sports department of TF1 as presenter of the magazine “Auto-Moto”.
In 2009, he left the big house of TF1 to join the Canal group and became a senior reporter. Passionate about sports and especially motorsport, there is plenty with a rally driver family, he participates in many sporting events such as L1, judo, handball… But it is in the mechanical sports editorial staff that he will carve out quite a reputation as an expert. For the Canal+ group, he will cover the world rally championship, the MotoGP championship and the Omnisports F1 championships.
One by one, Thomas will rise through the ranks to become deputy editorial director in charge of motorsports and omnisports.
It is therefore quite natural that he now becomes the head of sports for the Canal group.
A difficult and delicate position that personalities such as: Michel Denisot, Charles Biétry, Alexandre Bompard and Cyril Linette had before him.
Honfleur-infos, would like to congratulate Thomas Sénécal for his career, his appointment and wish him good success in his new role.
