This act tears your heart apart: ex-baseball star Sergio Miter was convicted of raping and murdering a 22-month-old child.

What a horrible act! Former baseball pro Sergio Miter (40, including New York Yankees) was sentenced to 50 years in prison in Mexico in January 2022. A court found him guilty of raping and murdering his ex-girlfriend Liliana’s daughter when the toddler was just 22 months old.
Sergio Miter committed the terrible act in July 2020 in Saltillo (Mexico), little Inès died of her severe injuries.
Little Inés died in the hospital
The mother had taken little Inés to a local clinic after the incident because the child was complaining of abdominal pain. But she was sent home. There, the child’s condition deteriorated rapidly and she was taken to a larger hospital. But the doctors there could not save the child’s life.
From 2003 to 2011 Miter played for the Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers in the North American professional league MLB and made a total of 64 appearances. He was also part of the Yankees team that won the 2009 World Series. But in the playoffs, he served a 50-game doping ban for taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Sergio Miter tried to cover up the crime
Miter, who was arrested for drug possession later in the month, was still trying to cover up the outrageous crime. The former top athlete, who was previously convicted of domestic violence in 2019, must now be behind bars for 50 years. The maximum sentence for femicide (killing women and girls) in Mexico is 60 years.
The court also ordered him to pay compensation of 1.3 million pesos (56,000 euros). Miter must apologize for his actions, and this apology must then be published in the Mexican mass media. But none of that brings little Inés back… (oh)
