Villarreal took the three points at stake against Real Mallorca at La Cerámica (3-0) in a comfortable match for the villarrealenses in front of an ineffective rival and that was always surpassed by his rival.
A goal of Russian franc at own door at twelve minutes and another Manu Trigueros to 33 they allowed Villarreal to show their best game in the first half against a rival with hardly any response.
In the second half, Villarreal was not so superior and although Mallorca improved slightly, they were not able to worry the Castellón team either and could not avoid a new local goal, from Dani Parejo from a penalty, nor their fourth consecutive defeat in the league.
The local team started the game with more energy than the Majorcan team, although the respect between both teams marked the game in the first stages of the game.
It had to be an own goal that opened the scoring. It was in Villarreal’s favor after an error by the entire Mallorca defense that ended with Franco Russo scoring in his goal after trying to clear a cross from Alfonso Pedraza.
The goal left Mallorca touched, who saw how a minute later Leo Román had to intervene to avoid the second local goal in a shot by Moi Gómez.
Only Take Kubo in attack provided some sense of danger for the visiting team. A good cross of his, exploited by Amath, forced Rulli to intervene for the first time around the 20th minute of the game.
However, as the game progressed, Villarreal strengthened its dominance against a Mallorca team that was unable to put together plays and based its game on long balls against a well-positioned rival.
As a result of this superiority came Villarreal’s second goal after culminating in the 33rd minute a counterattack that Iborra started and Pedreza continued with a great assist to Trigueros, who did not forgive Leo Román.
In the final stretch of the first half, Mallorca was completely subdued and did not know how to stop the onslaught of the Villarreal team.
In the second half the development of the match hardly changed. Villarreal maintained their dominance against Mallorca, who, although they approached more frequently in the early stages of this period, were hardly dangerous against the Argentinean Gero Rulli’s goal.
Villarreal, who did not acknowledge his numerous absences, lowered its intensity midway through the second half, which Mallorca took advantage of to grow slightly in the match thanks in large part to the changes in its line-up, although without consequences on the scoreboard.
With the situation controlled by Unai Emery’s team, the game entered a flat phase that only changed due to the penalty committed against Jackson, which Dani Parejo scored in the 87th minute and which also led to the expulsion of Francio Russo in one afternoon very fateful for the Argentine defender.
