Last year’s champion Roland Garros Krejčíková has clashed with the former world number one and currently the 25th player in the WTA Azarenková rankings so far, losing three sets in Ostrava the year before last. “I’m excited to play with her here. It will be a challenge, a battle and I will find out how I am doing,” Krejčíková was looking forward to the match with the Australian Open winner from 2012 and 2013.
Azarenková remembered the Ostrava duel with the Czech player and also expected a challenging match. “Barbora’s rise over the past year and a half is incredible. She can play aggressively as well as mix strokes well. She is a very dangerous opponent,” said Belarus, a 32-year-old.
