Rossi Reveals the Beginning Cause of Enmity with Lorenzo in MotoGP

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Legend MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, revealing the first incident that made his relationship with Jorge Lorenzo deteriorate.

Rossi and Lorenzo had a bad relationship in MotoGP. The relationship between the two former drivers has only improved since Lorenzo left for Ducati in 2017. Currently, Rossi and Lorenzo have a good relationship.

Quoted from Marca, Rossi said that he did not like the arrival of Lorenzo to Yamaha in 2008. The Doctor is aware that his position as world champion at Yamaha is under threat from Lorenzo.

“In 2008, Yamaha decided to make a team with two top riders. I got angry with Yamaha and said, ‘I came here, won the world title after 20 years for Yamaha. I deserved a slower rider’. But they did it anyway, and That made me go to Ducati, because with Lorenzo everything was difficult,” said Rossi.

Although he did not like the arrival of Lorenzo, Rossi admitted that the bad relationship with the Spaniard only started after the Catalunya MotoGP race in Barcelona in 2009.

“Worse? Everything happened in 2009 in Barcelona. When we competed tightly throughout the race. In the team problems started happening. Some teams are happy because I won, others are angry,” said Rossi.

Rossi further said that it was always not easy to be Lorenzo’s teammate in MotoGP. That’s what made Rossi moved to Ducati in 2011 and 2012 before returning to Yamaha.

“Two top riders, with the best team, the best motorcycle. The problem is that we want the same title, so there are moments where the road is not always straight. The conditions are not easy because all the riders want to win,” said Rossi.

“The situation is difficult because for sure something will happen. Something happens on the circuit, usually the conditions will heat up. Sometimes riders say something bad about their teammates to journalists, so the situation is difficult. It’s impossible not to fight,” said Rossi.
