The Chicago Bulls will be without guard Alex Caruso for a long time. The 27-year-old was fouled in the game against champion Milwaukee Bucks on Friday and injured his wrist.
The Bucks’ Grayson Allen fouled the Bulls guard bad at his layup attempt and was sent off with a Flagrant Foul II. The Bucks narrowly won the game 94-90.
An investigation has now revealed a broken right wrist at Caruso, the American media report unanimously. He will have surgery next week and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.
Caruso said after the game that his wrist was “a bit worn”. Although he was able to continue playing, he only hit one of six throws from the field in the second half. “The guy grabbed me in midair,” he complained. “That’s quite bullshit.” Allen did not even ask about his condition afterwards.
The Bulls, who have lost five of their last six games, remain second in the Eastern Conference with 28 wins and 16 losses. But the injuries are now piling up in Illinois: In addition to Caruso, Lonzo Ball (meniscus surgery), Zach LaVine (knee), Javonte Green (groin), Derrick Jones Jr. (knee) and Patrick Williams (wrist) are currently absent.
