NBA, Stephen Curry and the first hoop of victory on the siren in his career. VIDEO

Better late than never. This Steph Curry must have thought too at the end of a more complicated match than expected for Golden State – in back-to-back, returning from a heavy defeat against Indiana in overtime and who seemed forced to 5.1 seconds from the siren to another challenge to take to overtime also against Houston. Opponents to overwhelm than in recent weeks (mainly due to the absence of Draymond Green) they have become difficult to beat. An evident frustration also for Curry himself, who returned to the bench before the last timeout had kicked a chair on the bench: after two months at the limit of perfection, he also started misfiring. For the No. 30 Warriors 5/20 shooting against Houston with 20 points on the scoresheet and 12 assists. At least until coach Steve Kerr drew the last attack.

The Rockets, unlike what the Pacers did 24 hours earlier, they make the mistake of getting the ball into Steph Curry’s hands (Indiana had forced Toscano-Anderson to attempt an emergency shot at the iron at the end of regulation, which ended up far from the iron): the best shooter from the arc in NBA history therefore has the opportunity to target Kevin Porter Jr. – careful to move his feet, place his body on the attempted penetration and reflexively concentrated on the three-point line as well. With the score set at 103-103, however, two points were enough: for that Curry got a little closer than usual to the basket, then creating separation with a quick step back and letting go of the shot on the siren. Red light on the scoreboard and ball on the bottom of the retina: the buzzer beater that Curry (who had already scored the winning basket seven times) had never been able to find. Often decisive at the end, but never on the siren. There is always a first time, even on a bad night. Better late than never.
