Biathlon: two weeks before the Beijing Olympics, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet on the podium at Antholz

A smile says a lot. If the Italian Dorothea Wierer returned to victory on her lands of Antholz-Anterselva on Sunday, Anais Chevalier Bouchet, 3rd in the Mass-start behind the Belarusian Dzinara Alimbekava, achieved a fine performance 12 days before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing (6 to 20 February 2022).

Author of a 19 out of 20 in shooting, the Frenchwoman offers herself the 17th podium of her career, the 3rd of the season, after the sprint and the pursuit of Östersund. Out in front of the last shooting range, the biathlete did not have, after a big week of training, the necessary resources.

“I suffered,” admits Anaïs Chevalier Bouchet at the microphone of the L’Équipe channel. I had already worked a lot to come back in the second lap after my shooting error. I go out in the lead after the last shot, I would have liked to keep this position, I understood that Dorothea (Wierer) had some juice. There are a lot of good lessons to be learned from this week, I am satisfied with my shooting, I will analyze everything to prepare for the rest. »

Winner of the Individual Friday, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, despite the best time on skis, is content this time with 5th place, due in particular to a double fault on the last shot. Julia Simon, second Friday, is 10th.
