On the 23rd, the Chino City Youth Baseball Federation held a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding in Yuiwaku Chino, the city. Approximately 40 people, including representatives of registered elementary and junior high school student teams, federation officers, and past presidents, attended and commended meritors. We vowed to work together to increase the youth baseball population.
Established in 1972. From the latter half of the 1950s to the 1960s, about 25 teams of elementary school students alone were members. Seven elementary school students and four junior high school teams (three teams from the middle) registered this year, but the number of elementary school teams is expected to decrease to five next year. It is said that the tournament will be held in collaboration with the teams in Fujimi Town and Hara Village.
Chairman Yoshiyuki Matsuzawa expressed his gratitude to those who supported the federation in a greeting. While the baseball population is declining, he touched on the movement toward the establishment of a prefectural baseball association with the aim of improving the environment for children to continue playing, and called for “cooperation for the maintenance and development of the federation.”
Mr. Tadashi Murakami, the chairman of the schoolchildren’s club of the Baseball Association in Isehara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, which is a sister city of the city, gave a congratulatory address. In the award for meritorious people, Ichiro Ushigo, who has worked as an instructor for many years to improve children’s skills, and Kiyoshi Hirano, who has worked to improve children’s skills, were presented with a certificate.
Initially, a commemorative ceremony was planned in October last year, but it was postponed to prevent infection with the new coronavirus. On this day as well, the number of participants was limited and the time was shortened.
