John Stockton has been a faithful attendee at Gonzaga basketball games, but the former player of the Bulldogs and the Utah Jazz revealed that the university suspended their tickets for the whole season for not adapting to the use of face masks during the games.
Under Washington state law, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask when people other than your household are present, with limited exceptions and sporting events do not fall within that exception.
“Basically, it all came down to I was asked to wear a mask in games and, being a public figure, someone a little more visible, I stood out a little bit from the crowd. So they got complaints and said they’re going to have to ask me to wear a mask or they’re going to suspend my tickets,” he told The Spokesman-Review.
Despite this interview, Stockton was present at the opening game of Gonzaga against Pepperdine on Jan. 8, but he wasn’t in his usual seats against BYU and San Francisco.
