the Resident Evil The video game series has gone through many changes throughout its run. Starting with horror-focused fixed-camera games, D gradually evolved into a more action-oriented franchise. The perfect fusion happened in Resident Evil 4, which was also the culmination of the switch to an over-the-shoulder camera style.
It was with the 7th and 8th installments, Resident Evil : Danger biologique and Resident Evil Village, that there was a switch to the first-person shooter format. After Resident evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, fans and critics appreciated the change, as well as the series’ rediscovery of its horror roots.
It will be FPS
The best way to see Resident EvilThe scariest villains are up close and personal. Resident Evil 7 : Danger biologique and Resident Evil Village took this to the next level by changing the presentation to a first person view.
Osterlay said: “Of the story, it will be first-person as Capcom mixes gameplay elements from their main numbered series. 1-3 has been fixed, 4-6 was OTS and 7-9 will probably be in first person. The real question is what will 10 be?” It’s true that there are certain patterns within the franchise, but most of them are coincidental. However, given the popularity of Biological hazard and Village, it would make sense to stick with the FPS format.
There will be less emphasis on horror
Vredesbyrd67 has agreed that the game’s narrative and action will be shown via a first-person perspective. However, they added, “but even less emphasis on horror. It’s going to be more action-oriented. They created expectation all along Resident Evil Village and in the epilogue after the credits talking about Rose and her “abilities”.
Biological hazard and Village found an action/horror balance that worked for the first-person shooter format. Namely, he leaned into scares rather than firefights. This return to the series’ original focus has been appreciated by fans, so this Redditor’s theory is just a maybe.
There will be an alien plot
Mr-Industrial gave his thoughts on the series’ influences so far, and what subgenre they think the eighth installment will be influenced by: “Alien Conspiracy. 9 should be SciFi aliens and shit… Do I want this to be? Not necessarily, but the model is there for that.
The assimilation of Redditor to Biological hazard at The Texas Chainsaw Massacre suitable, as Village to folklore, so it stands to reason that the next installment will have another specific influence. And, at this point, there are probably ways to create sci-fi plot vibes.
It will be the story of Rose or Mia
Doggo108 believes RE8 will pick up directly where Village left out, thinking her purpose will be to explore “Rose’s molding abilities that she threatens to use in the post-credits scene, or Mia’s story. This would give us the “daughter’s story” or the “mother’s story” given that after Village he says ‘the father’s story is now over.’”
While it is one of Resident Evil Village‘s best quotes, it’s also a pretty telling foreshadowing. There is no reason to believe that a main entrance to the D the series feels like a character’s arc is over, only to revisit it in depth.
Chris Redfield will have a substantial role
Chris Redfield just made a moderately well-received appearance in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (although he wasn’t one of the smartest characters in the movie), but he wasn’t the central protagonist of a D game for a few installments. However, he was a playable character towards the end of Village and had a strong presence on the narrative of this game.
Another Redditor, Doktor_Wunderbar, postulated that this franchise mainstay will make an appearance in RE9 thus: “I expect RE9 will address some of the questions posed introduced in RE8 (Village), so I expect Chris to play a big role.” Some other Redditors think Chris’ time is coming to an end, but the user doesn’t think so, adding, “I don’t think they can kill him anytime soon, though, based on the post footage. – credit of RE8. ” The Redditor refers to how someone named Redfield (a man) lands in an Umbrella helicopter.
Either Rose will save Chris or Chris will save Rose.
The plot of RE9 is a mystery, but there have been hints as to which characters are the franchise’s future (even if only for now).
Fadeddreams555 thinks it will go two ways: “It could be a solo Chris story, in which he fights to uncover the secrets of the BSAA, as well as saving Rose from them. That said, saving Rose would be a rehash of RE8, so maybe she should be playable. Maybe it will be the other way around, and Chris will disappear, so she has to find him and save him.”
Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield could and should return
The long duration Resident Evil The series has its fair share of popular zombie-fighting protagonists. Two of the most popular are the always quoted Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine. A Redditor, theratedrpoet, thinks the two legacy characters should return in RE9. In their words, “I don’t really know what lies ahead but I would love to see Jill and Claire come back. Jill has been absent from the picture since 2009 (RE5) and Claire since 2011. It will be a bonus if they team up for the first time.”
The Redditor then mentioned how tired they were of the male Redfield, to which JeopVEVO replied, “I think Capcom wants a character that ties all the games together and they chose Chris.” That’s a good point, Chris is a popular character, but the same could be said for Jill, Claire and Ada Wong. For Jill and Claire, however, as the poet puts it, “it’s now or never”.
Resident Evil : Crucifix
The seventh installment of Resident Evil the series of games was called Biological hazard, but its stylization is interesting. Essentially it’s Resident E-VII, with the “vile” being the Roman numeral for seven. Then, Resident Evil Village was stylized as VIIIage, with “vill” serving as the Roman numeral for eight.
Hastylez thinks it will continue with RE9 in the form of “Resident Evil: Crucifix”. Even if they don’t go with that apt title, it stands to reason that Capcom will continue with styling in one form or another.
