The “Novak Djokovic” case also has consequences for Formula 1. After the debate about the denied entry for the vaccinated tennis star, the organizers of the Australian GP made it clear: unvaccinated pilots are not allowed to enter the country, a start in the Melbourne race on March 10 April is impossible. Possible exceptions? None!
Zero tolerance!
“The rules for entry and participation in the Grand Prix are very clear. To enter the event you must be fully vaccinated, there will be no exceptions,” said Andrew Westacott, CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
“Our agreements were made long before the recent events at the Australian Open. Formula 1 and the FIA understand the conditions that must be met,” Westacott said. Even drivers who have tested positive cannot start under any circumstances: “There is zero tolerance in this regard – it doesn’t matter whether you are Lewis Hamilton or Valentino Rossi, if you test positive, you are not there.” (dark)
