Because of strong performance: Judoka from TUS Bad Aibling appointed to Bayern squad
Due to his good performance in the previous year, judo talent Maxim Weisser (photo) was appointed to the Bavarian squad by TUS Bad Aibling, which was written into the current squad list of the Bavarian Judo Association. Most recently, he came third in the Bavarian and Southern German Championships in the U15 age group.
He is now listed in the D3 squad and is currently preparing for the Bavarian U18 Championships – an age category in which he will belong for the first time in 2022. On the other hand, it is still uncertain in which weight class the martial artist from Aibling will compete in the next tournaments.
His older brother Patrick finds himself in the D squad, so that he can also count himself among the best Bavarian judoka. The 20-year-old trained in December and again in the new year in Berlin-Kienbaum and at the Großhadern base of the German Judo Federation and is preparing for the upcoming tasks with the men’s national team.
The German men’s championship scheduled for January, in which Weisser finished with a strong fifth place last time, was postponed to autumn due to the corona.
Nevertheless, it is important for Weisser to get in shape for the upcoming tasks and to recommend for higher things.
The third-placed at the German U21 Championships in 2020 (category -60 kg) and 2021 (in the limit up to 66 kg) would like to establish himself in men’s judo and is currently completing a 14-day course with Germany’s best – under the direction of the national judo trainer for men, Pedro Guedes.
The squad list of the German Judo Federation, from which Patrick Weisser’s nationwide ranking will emerge, is also eagerly awaited.
