St. Martin – What became of the butcher, innkeeper & football fan Dietmar Weninger?

In the 1980s, Dietmar Weninger took over the inn and butcher’s shop in St. Martin from his father Hermann. He ran the business with his wife Helga and also set up a taxi and rental car company. A few years ago, the Weningers closed the inn, and in 2018 finally the butcher shop in Gmünd.

“Didi’s” leisure activity was and is football: Father Hermann was one of the people who founded a football club in St. Martin in 1980. Didi was active from the start, after the 30s he hung up his football boots and became an official. The 64-year-old can often be found on soccer fields in the Upper Waldviertel. He is also a regular at the Hohe Warte and watches the women’s team. Reason: His granddaughter Esther Floh is considered a great talent.

During the week, Weninger jumps in as a chauffeur for school transports – his son Mario has taken over the business. Despite an intensive search, there are no interested parties for the inn.
