Four-time Stanley Cup winner and Islanders legend Clark Giles dies at age 67

In 1996, Islanders immortalized Gilise’s ninth issue, and in 2002, the former striker was admitted to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“The National Hockey League is mourning the departure of Clark Giles,” quoted NHL commissioner Gary Betman as saying. “Giles defined what a power striker should be for 14 seasons.”

Guilliss played in the Islanders from the 1974/1975 season until the end of the 1985/86 season. He played 872 games for the New York team and scored a total of 663 points (304 + 359), the fourth best performance in the team’s history.

The former hockey player is also one of 17 Islanders hockey players who won the Stanley Cup for four years in a row (1980-1983). He was also on the team when the Islanders won 19 games in a row in the play-off tournament, reaching an NHL record.

Guilliss spent the last two seasons of his career in the Buffalo Sabers and ended his career after the 1987/88 season.

He was the uncle of Colton Giliss, who played in the ranks of Riga’s “Dynamo”.
