PORDENONE – The news has recently come that the lawyer Giancarlo Zannier has been appointed President of the Federal Court and of the Sporting Court of Appeal of Rome. These are the bodies of Justice having jurisdiction in the context of the sporting system throughout the national territory towards the affiliated companies and members practicing the sports activities of judo, wrestling, karate and all martial arts recognized by the Committee. The task of the Court of Appeal is to issue definitive sentences in the proceedings promoted for the observance of the principles deriving from the sporting legal system to protect fair play in opposition to any kind of sports fraud, sporting offense, aimed at contrasting the ” use of prohibited substances and methods, both physical and verbal violence, all for a correct organization and management of sports activities.
The Court of Justice is composed of the president, 5 effective judges and two alternate judges chosen from among lawyers, magistrates and law professors from all over Italy with specific skills in the field of sports with many years of professional experience. . He will remain in office until the end of the Olympic four-year period for which the members will expire in 2024 and ultimately judges acting as a Sports Court against the judgments of the sports judge and as a Federal Court against the decisions of the Federal Court.
The lawyer Zannier, of Spilimberghese origin, after his university studies in Padua and graduated in Law, began his profession as a lawyer in Pordenone, in the firm that represented the oldest professional association in the province.
A great sports enthusiast, he is an expert in sports law, holding the position of Members of the Federal Court of Appeal of FIJlkam of which since 2015 he has become acting president and of the Federal Court of Appeal and of the Sports Court of Appeal.
He is a founding member of the Center for Sports Law and Medicine, established on 30 May 2016 with headquarters in Rome. He was president of the Council of the Bar of Pordenone from 2010 to 2015. In 2016 he obtained the golden toga. Since 2020 he has been a member of the Judicial Council of the Trieste Court of Appeal.
