Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal suffered a spectacular accident on Monday while training and although he is “stable”, he will be operated on in the next few hours for the multiple fractures that occurred when he hit a bus.
The incident happened on a highway near the Colombian town of Cundinamarca, about 30 kilometers from the country’s capital, Bogotá. The current champion of the Giro d’Italia and also winner of the Tour de France in 2019, hit the heavy vehicle when it stopped suddenly, without the Ineos rider being able to react to the maneuver.
Bernal, one of the great cyclists of the international peloton in terms of the fight for the great stage tours, was preparing the next start of the 2022 season together with several teammates.
