NBA Top Shot NFTs are up 72% in value in the last 30 days

  • According to Cryptoslam, secondary sales of the NFTs reached $53.8 million
  • Previously, Dapper Labs released a new commercial starring Kevin Durant for TV and social media
  • Dapper Labs also released Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strike NFTs over the weekend

While the crypto market continues to perform poorly, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) appear to be unaffected. Massive amounts of money are still being invested in this industry. The largest NFT marketplace, OpenSea, last week broke its record in a month, with January revenue topping $3.5 billion so far.

While several projects are thriving, one NFT series in particular has soared in the last 30 days. It’s NBA Top Shot – an NFT project by Dapper Labs running on the company’s Flow blockchain. NFTs saw a 72% increase in secondary market trading volume over the past month to $53.8 million. That goes from the Data by Cryptoslam.

NBA Top Shot NFTs came out as early as March of last year just as the NFT boom was losing. However, many left the project dead after it plummeted in June and failed to recover with the rest of the market in August.

This poor performance was due to fans considering the project “NFT lite”. The NFTs were primarily aimed at NBA fans and they were sold for US dollars – which is quite rare for a market where everything is traded on Ethereum. However, with recent development, NBA Top Shot appears to be making a comeback.

NBA Top Shot’s resurgence comes after the launch of a new TV and social media advertising campaign starring NBA star Kevin Durant. The project promises a free Durant NFT to first-time buyers of Top Shot. By the way, this is not the basketball player’s first crypto ad. He previously partnered with leading American crypto exchange Coinbase.

The NBA also has a partnership with Coinbase, it is the official crypto exchange of the US basketball league.

Dapper Labs continues to expand and release new UFC NFTs

This news comes as Dapper Labs continues with its expansion plans. has on the weekend brought the company Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strike NFTs. The NFT drop came after Saturday’s UFC 270 pay-per-view live event.

Coined on Flow, the NFTs feature video footage of UFC events, just like NBA Top Shot. In contrast to NBA Top Shot, however, the UFC NFTs are provided with the original soundtrack for the video clip. Additionally, Dapper Labs is selling all NFT packs, which contain a random selection of moments, for the same price.

The first packs contained moments from fighters such as Francis Ngannou, Amanda Nunes, Kamaru Usman, Rose Namajunas, Derrick Lewis and Justin Gaethje.

Previously, in September last year, the company launched the highly anticipated NFL version of NBA Top Shot, dubbed NFL All Day announced. This NFT collection is scheduled for release at the end of the NFL season.
