The AS FAR team won the first National Basketball League. The tripartite, organized by the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation in partnership and cooperation with City Club, ended at the expense of the Michlifen Ifrane City team 20 against 18 in a very balanced confrontation played at the indoor hall of the Complexe Mohammed V in Casablanca.
The final match was characterized by a very distinguished technical level and a great suspense between the elements of the FAR and Michlifen Ifrane City but thanks to the strong determination, the will and the experience of the Military whose team is composed of Jihad Benchalikha, Hamza Foulany and Amine Jaboud.
The success of this first National Basketball League, which was closely organized by the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation and the City Club, official sponsor of this successful sporting event, which had a great influence thanks to the harmony and cohesion between the FRMB and the private sector, which is able in the future to provide a useful complement to triple basketball in Morocco.
For the classification match, third place went to MAS, victorious 15 to 13 at the expense of Ittihad Tangier.
It should be noted that the first National Basketball League saw a significant participation of 13 teams from the First Division, which are the Kawkab of Marrakech, the FAR, Midelt Club, Raja, MAS, FUS, Ittihad Tanger, RS Berkane, Athletic Beni Yaznasen, CRA, Youth El Watia, Tan-Tan, Michlifen Club, Ifrane City
At the end of the first national tri-basket league, Mr. Mustafa Aourach, President of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation, Mr. Jonatan Harouch, General Manager of the City Club Sports Group, and some members of the FRMB administrative office , and a large number of basketball fans, and honored guests, witnessed the distribution of various cups and medals, as well as financial grants to the top three clubs that excelled in this league.
In passing, Mr. Mustafa Aourach, President of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation, expressed his joy at the success of the first edition of this tri-basketball league which was distinguished by the exemplary organization during the first experience between the FRMB and the private sector capable of providing the desired support and complement to tri-basketball while waiting for the organization of other leagues at the level of the Regions of the Kingdom in order to train a new generation of distinguished players capable in the future of strengthen the ranks of the National Team of Morocco, which will participate in the African qualifiers for the next Olympic Games.
In his statement after this tournament, Mr. Aourach said: “The biggest winner of the organization of this first tri-basketball league is national basketball.”
