The second half of the season has only just begun. But Nuremberg attacker Manuel Schäffler (32) is still close to reaching his personal goal for the season.
The center forward is about to extend his contract. According to BILD information, this happens automatically after a certain number of competitive matches.
Born in Fürstenfeldbruck, he has made 19 appearances this season. He has almost reached the minimum number for an extension stipulated in the contract. If no serious injury intervenes, the automatic extension is only a matter of form.
A similar contractual clause recently applied to captain Enrico Valentini (32). The contract of the original Nuremberger was also automatically extended to 2023 after 18 appearances.
Contract or not – Schäffler (three goals this season) must now continue to improve in order to continue to enjoy a starting XI standing at the club in the future. The attacker found it difficult to get into the season. It was only shortly before the winter break that “Cheffe” was back in his usual shape and scored two goals and one assist in five games.
If things continue like this, the automatic extension is a win for both sides.
