Between FC Barcelona and Ousmane Dembélé, the love story seemed to be coming to an end, against a backdrop of tensions linked to the non-extension of the player’s contract in Catalonia. After sending an ultimatum to the French player, the Blaugrana club lost patience with the lack of response from Dembélé (and especially his entourage) and cut short any negotiations with the player and his agent. The exit door seemed obvious for a player who must revive his career, undermined by injuries in recent years.
But this week, there could be a twist. According to the Spanish daily Sport, Ousmane Dembélé would like to meet in person and alone the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta. It would be a huge disavowal for the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, who remained inflexible to offers deemed too low by the club.
But obviously, the French international wants to heal the wounds and reduce the tension between him and his club. To do this, he would therefore be ready to short-circuit his agent. A great friend of Samuel Umtiti who has just extended his contract in Catalonia, Dembélé hopes that a meeting with Laporta will unblock the situation, as was the case with the French defender last summer.
