After starting his 3rd week of preseason, the Racing Club de Avellaneda coach spoke about his first tournament in charge of the team, the additions and expectations for the 2022 Federal League.
On Monday began the third week of training for the Academy in view of what is to come in the Federal League, which integrates the Buenos Aires-FeBamba Division in the Central zone. Despite some casualties due to Covid and injuries, the squad works on the physical part under the watchful eye of Physical Trainer Facundo Cesarino and the attentive gaze of Sebastián Intonio (AT) and coach Fernando Rosanova.
After what was a good season in the Metro League, in which the team reached the semifinals after losing to Indios de Moreno, the coach analyzed what this challenge will be in his first experience at Federal in charge of the squad. “I take on the challenge with great enthusiasm because it is the first professional tournament that I have played at the club, I want to compete and try to put Racing among the entertainer positions as we did in the Metro League”. At the same time, he added: “I have the desire to continue building a game identity and a work philosophy, which begins to represent the club and generate a greater identification both of those of us who are part of it and of the people with the team, transcending the result”.
After starting as an assistant at the Avellaneda institution, Rosanova accompanied Juan Kass in Monte Hermoso (2016-2017) and, in the Argentine League, in Del Progreso (2021). In addition, he was the head coach of Blanco y Negro de Coronel Suárez in 2020 where he won the provincial championship. Once again, in the club where he was born, he is preparing to debut as head coach in the third category of professional basketball.
The Acadé kept a large part of the squad that played in the Metro League, however, Pedro Amoros, a recent addition to Sportivo Las Parejas, was dismissed. In his place, another who returned to the club that saw him born, is Leonardo Fabiano. “He is a man of the house who, in addition to giving us many things in sports due to his experience and the possibility of occupying various positions, it is always good to add identified people, who know his human quality and everything he can contribute to the team”. This is how the coach described it to the escort who came out of the club’s training and was champion in 2015 of the metropolitan tournament. On the other hand, Mariano Martorelli, a U23 record with a past in 9 de Julio de Río Tercero, was also incorporated, and defined him as follows: “He is a boy from the area who was in the interior looking for his first chances in professionalism and it seemed to us a great possibility to open the doors to work and project for the future. He has shown a great desire to work, learn and develop and I think that as the tournament progresses he will bring new things to the team with characteristics that we did not have in those positions”.
The objective for this new challenge is “To be able to compete as equals with all the teams that touch us, to continue building an identity that I think we were able or tried to capture in the Metro League. With an excellent human group that is being formed and a great day-to-day work” Fernando narrated, who also added: “We will set our sights on reaching the play-offs in the best possible position, then the competition will tell us, achieving that objective, what can be the expectations of continuing to grow within the tournament”. Racing’s presentation in the 2022 Federal League will be at home against Obras Sanitarias on February 1 at 7:00 p.m. in Avellaneda, then it will visit River on Thursday 3 at 9:30 p.m.
