NBA fans were stunned after the Washington Wizards produced one of the “worst meltdowns in sports history” on Wednesday night.
In a home game at Capital One Arena, the Wizards opened up a commanding 30-point lead over the Los Angeles Clippers at halftime, only to capitulate entirely in the remaining two periods and lose the contest.
Trailing 1115-109 in the dying embers, the Clippers hit two 3-pointers in less than 10 seconds as Luke Kennard delivered both baskets from behind the arc with just 1.9 left on the clock.
Now tied, the Wizards suffered a major blow when shooting guard Bradley Beal was deemed to have fouled Kennard in the buildup, giving the Clippers a chance to win the game with a free throw.

It was an opportunity Kennard didn’t waste, diving from 15 feet to seal an incredible 116-115 win for the Los Angeles Clippers.
And as the Clippers celebrated their biggest comeback in franchise history, the Washington Wizards were left wondering how they managed to become the second team in NBA history to lose after leading by more than 30 points at halftime.
The Wizards’ capitulation sent shockwaves around the world and fans took to social media to express their disbelief.
