Totally the Greek gentleman…

In one of the most intense matches of the current “Australian Open” so far, Stefanos Tsitsipas (23) advanced to the quarter-finals on Monday. After five sets against his American opponent Taylor Fritz (24), the Greek was allowed to celebrate and confidently equalized the interim set deficit of 1:2!

In addition to the exciting rallies, the spectators also enjoyed an unusual scene from the fourth set. A ball girl had crawling animal panic…

When she was supposed to run this to her position, she suddenly flinched! The fear-jump was caused by a cockroach running across the field

After a few small anxious attempts by the girl to drive the intruder away, Tsitsipas finally intervened and loaded the insect onto his racket, taking it to the edge of the field. Relief was written all over the ball girl’s face, and the audience applauded.

The “Australian Open” also have fun on their Instagram account. “Tsitsipas rushes to the rescue,” they write, and the fans in the comments praise the tennis player for his efforts. “A true gentleman,” write some, and further: “Oh my God, I would have died. God bless him for saving her!”.
