The former Werder Bremen coach Markus Anfang, 47, is no longer allowed to work as a coach at least until the end of the season because of his vaccination card affair. The sports court of the German Football Association banned him retrospectively from November 20 for one year, but suspended this sentence on probation from June. In addition, the beginning must pay a fine of 20,000 euros.
“Markus Beginning and Florian Junge violated the role model function as coaches to a considerable extent,” said Hans E. Lorenz, the chairman of the sports court, about the former Werder coach and his assistants. Junge got away with a ten-month ban, also on probation from June. The probations are “justified in view of the confessions made,” said Lorenz, so that both could work as coaches again in the coming season. Beginning and Young were accused of using fake vaccination cards and resigned in Bremen at the end of November.
