Chess player Anish Giri has booked his fourth win in a row at the Tata Steel tournament in Magnus Carlsen, claims 100 million dollars from his accusers – Liberation”>Wijk aan Zee. With this, the Dutch grandmaster world champion Magnus Carlsen has approached half a point after nine of the thirteen rounds.
Giri started the tournament a week and a half ago with a draw against 16-year-old Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa. He lost his second match to Norwegian world champion Carlsen.
The Dutch number seven in the world ranking has now recovered well. In the ninth round, Giri beat American Sam Shankland with the white pieces.
With six points, 27-year-old Giri is ahead of his competitor Shakhrijar Mamedjarov from Azerbaijan. Until today, Memedjarov shared the lead with Carlsen, but after a defeat against the Norwegian top favorite he has dropped to third place. Carlsen is a seven-time winner of the prestigious tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
