Winter transfers: Tibo Persyn is the 3rd musketeer of Club Brugge at Westerlo | Jupiler Pro League

Arno Verschueren makes the switch from 1B club Lommel to the Dutch first division team Sparta Rotterdam. The 24-year-old midfielder will be hired for the coming months, after which he will be definitively transferred at the end of the season. He signed a contract at Het Kasteel until the summer of 2025.

“These were intensive negotiations in which the transfer fee that we have agreed upon ultimately demonstrates our ambitions to achieve a sporting result,” Gerard Nijkamp, Sparta’s technical director, said on the club’s website. “Arno still had an ongoing contract, but we wanted to sign him as a Sparta player not only for the rest of the season, but also for the following seasons.”

“With Arno we strengthen ourselves with a multifunctional player. He can be used in several positions in midfield and with his running ability can be an important link between defense and attack. At NAC Breda he has already proven himself in the past at Eredivisie level, we believe that he will also show this in Rotterdam.”

Verschueren made the switch from NAC Breda to Lommel in the summer of 2020. Before that, the 24-year-old from Antwerp was active in the youth academy of Lierse, Westerlo and OH Leuven. At Lommel, the midfielder was a strong holder with 41 official games in the past one and a half season.
