REGGIO EMILIA – Reggio Emilia does not forget Kobe and Gianna Bryant, the great NBA basketball champion and his young daughter, also a basketball player, who disappeared on January 26 two years ago in a helicopter crash in the United States.
For the strong bond that united Bryant to Reggio Emilia, where he spent a few years of his childhood playing in the Giovanili of the Reggiana Basketball (in the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons) when his father Joe was a professional player in the first team, the Municipality of the city last year, the first in the world, dedicated to him the space in front of the city sports hall, redeveloped and transformed into a square. This year, Mayor Luca Vecchi, on behalf of the city, placed on the plaque installed in the square a bouquet of yellow and purple flowers, the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers, where Kobe served for 20 years.
Last night, moreover, the fountain of the Municipal Theater Valli and the Bridges of Santiago Calatrava, in Reggio Emilia, were illuminated in the same colors.
