Both Zulte Waregem and OHL have failed to take a step forward in the Jupiler Pro League. In a mediocre game, both teams each scored once before half time. This way they stay camping in the lower regions of the stand.

Zulte Waregem – OHL in a nutshell:

  • Key moment: After minutes of possession and a deserved opening goal from OHL, Jelle Vossen put the 1-1 on the board just before half time. Immediately good for the final score in a sloppy game by both teams.
  • Man of the Match: Jelle Vossen was the most dangerous man for the home team and also nodded the equalizer. Although Zulte Waregem can also thank Sammy Bossut for being alert in the second half.
  • Tactician of the Day: Marc Brys took a gamble by putting Sory Kaba in the starting line-up just after his return trip from the Africa Cup. “We’ll see how long he lasts,” the T1 said. A good move by Brys, because the striker opened the score on the half hour.

The numbers 13 and 16 in the Jupiler Pro League position both had only one goal: to take 3 points with a view to a stress-free end to the season.

Zulte Waregem started well in its own Regenboogstadion. After small chances for the home team, the OHL thought it was enough and the team took possession of the ball. Leuven did not draw many great opportunities from that.

“Then we’ll try it during the switchover”, Mercier must have thought. The Frenchman’s shot was still blocked, but in the resumption Kaba was able to cut and finish. A good return for the striker who stayed at the Africa Cup until recently.

Zulte Waregem woke up. Just before half time, Gano unselfishly passed to Vossen, who easily nodded his 14th of the season.

The second half was a measure for nothing. Bossut was twice alert to long shots from Shengelia and De Sart and kept a point at home. Both teams don’t do much with that.

Sory Kaba opened the scoring for OHL.

De Norre: “Moderate turf made it difficult for us”

  • Casper De Norre (OHL): “A draw was deserved on a field that was difficult to play on. You easily slipped on the turf, which had a lot of sand on it. For a football team like us, that is a bit more difficult, but we had to do more with it ourselves.”
  • Timmy Simons (trainer Zulte Waregem): “The boys have once again shown the energy and passion to go for it in every game. They also kept Mercier out of the game. Even though we played a little too sloppy.”
