A few days after their elimination from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations against Cameroon, the host country of the competition, the Comoros were sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football for the artisanal flocking on the goalkeeper’s jersey for a Chaker Alhadhur evening, as well as for non-compliance with COVID rules and late arrival on the pitch at the Olembé stadium.
The Comoros Football Federation reacted through a press release to the decisions of the pan-African body: “It is with regret and consternation that we have learned of the sanctions taken against the Comoros by CAF (…) Since the start of the competition, the National Team of the Comoros has shown itself to be exemplary, resolutely respectful of the regulations competition, COVID-19 health protocols and the noblest sporting ethics.”
