Opposed to a direct opponent for maintenance, the Sérésiens miss the opportunity to leave the red zone and remain penultimate with 23 units, one length from Ostend, 16th, and four from their opponent of the day, 13th. The Steelworkers are nine points ahead of Beerschot, the red lantern. In the 9th minute, Eupen distinguished himself by one of his newcomers. After a fine pass from Jérôme Deom in the rectangle, Torben Müsel crossed his shot too much and did not worry Gillaume Dietsch.
Four minutes later, following an innocuous ball, Pandas goalkeeper Abdul Nurudeen completely missed his control and gave George Mikautadze the opportunity to recover the ball. Although embarrassed by the goalkeeper and the return of the defense, the Georgian striker did not take advantage of the windfall.
Shortly after the half hour, the same Mikautadze, at the edge of the rectangle, saw his sending off narrowly countered by a well-inspired tackle from Emmanuel Agbadou (32nd). The Steelworkers were still threatening in the 36th minute, still via Mikautadze. Placed at the penalty spot, he took over a cross from Antoine Bernier following a good combination with Daniel Opare. Unfortunately for the Sérésiens, the resumption of their number nine was not supported enough and was well dismissed by Nurudeen.
Very poor in opportunity, the second half offered almost nothing, if not a possibility for the Pandas in the 57th minute. Isolated on the right flank, Boris Lambert sent an excellent center in the rectangle of Seraing, but the offering of the Eupenois crossed the entire defense without finding a partner to push it into the back of the net.
Before this meeting, Eupen remained on six meetings without winning (5 defeats and a share). The last win for the Pandas was on December 11 with a 2-0 success against Beerschot. For his part, Seraing won in the week 2-1 against the same Antwerp, ending a series of seven consecutive defeats in the league.
