Judo / Belgian Open (1st day): two medals for Algeria

BRUSSELS – The Algerian selection (men/women) of judo gleaned two medals (1 gold and 1 bronze), during the first day of the Belgian Open (seniors) currently underway in the capital, Brussels.

The gold medal was the work of the young Driss Messaoud in the under 73 kilos, while the experienced Abderrahmane Benamadi settled for bronze in the under 90 kilos.

The National Technical Department has selected a total of 16 judokas (10 men and 6 women).

Some of these athletes were engaged in the Belgian Open (January 29-30), while the others will take part in the Paris Grand Slam (February 5-6).

Competitions during which the Algerian representatives will try not only to honor the national colors with dignity, but also to continue to prepare well for other important international competitions to come, including the 2022 African Championships in Oran, and the Mediterranean Games of the same year, also planned in Oran.

The athletes selected are Hadjer Mecerrem (-48 kg), Faïza Aïssahine (-52 kg), Belkadi Amina (-63 kg), Kaouthar Ouallal (-78 kg), Sonia Asselah (+78 kg) and Meroua Mammeri (+78 kg). ) for women, as well as Mohamed Rebahi (-60 kg), Boubekeur Rebahi (-66 kg), Waïl Ezzine (-66 kg), Messaoud Driss (-73 kg), Houd Zourdani (-73 kg), Abderrahmane Laouar ( -81 kg), Abderrahmane Benamadi (-90 kg), Mustapha Yasser Bouamar (-100 kg), Mohamed Sofiane Belrakaâ (+100 kg) and Mohamed Mehdi Lily (+100 kg) for men.
