Last weekend, the quarter-finals of the French minimal and junior judo championship took place in Tarbes. The event brought together clubs from Ariège, Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées and Haute-Garonne. Despite many withdrawals linked to Covid, more than 150 participants competed on the tatami mats.
The representatives of our department once again carried the colors of the Foix Dojo. In judo and concerning the minimals, Lisa Loubès and Rayan Naja finished first and first in their respective categories; Celyan Gourmelen gets seventh place in his category as well. All three qualify for the semi-finals of the French championships, which will take place on February 12 in Toulouse, with the presence of all the clubs from Occitanie. We also salute the honorable performance of Tom Hervez, who finished eighth in his class. As for the juniors, Sacha Meyssan finished fifth in his category and at the same time qualified for the semi-finals of the French championship on Sunday February 13 in Toulouse. Note the good performance of Nilo Agostini, seventh in his category.
As for ju-jitsu, Alexandre Soldevila finished second in his category, and will travel on February 26 and 27 to Amilly near Orléans, in order to compete in the final.
According to the technical director, René Mabit, “these are very good results, our athletes fought really well, which bodes well for the semi-finals very close.”
We wish the same success to our representatives, during the quarter-finals of the French junior judo championship, this weekend in Toulouse. Let’s bet that they will still be able to give the best of themselves.
