On February 9, laSexta will premiere the documentary ‘bullying-by-fundacion-colacao/” title=”the faces of bullying' by Fundación ColaCao”>Somos Únicxs: las caras del bullying’, in which the Olympic and world badminton champion, Carolina Marín, or the medical doctor and paralympic champion of adapted triathlon, Susana Rodríguez, who suffered bullying, explain how sport helped them overcome it, among other testimonies.
The documentary has been produced by Atresmedia TV in collaboration with Buendía Estudios and promoted by the ColaCao Foundation and the Higher Sports Council (CSD) and is hosted by Helena Resano.
The production is directed by Hernan Zin, director, writer and war reporter, who has directed twenty social-themed films such as ‘Born in Syria’, ‘The War Against Women’ and ‘Dying to Tell’.
The documentary, whose objective is to raise awareness in Spanish society about ‘bullying’, and generate debate around a very silenced topic, has the testimony of sports content youtuber Papi Gavi, who also suffered harassment as a young man and with the Olympic runner-up of gymnastics Ray Zapata, who will also tell about some of the situations of harassment he suffered.
The experiences narrated by the protagonists of the documentary show that sport plays a leading role, both at an individual level in promoting self-esteem and security, and at a collective level thanks to the stimulation of empathy and camaraderie. So much so, that it has been a great ally to avoid or overcome ‘bullying’.
‘Somos Únicxs: las caras del bullying’ tries to show a complete vision of this problem, which is why it also provides the point of view of the aggressor with the participation of Jero García. An athlete and former professional boxer, García exercised these practices in his childhood and currently works actively with young aggressors for their integration through sport.
