Yesterday morning an unpleasant surprise in the headquarters of the Democratic Party of Scicli: the poster of the mayoral candidate Giorgio Vindigni posted in the door of the headquarters, in c.so Mazzini, was vandalized by unknown persons with spray paint. The symbol of the Party was also covered.
“We have already informed the Carabinieri of Scicli, who carried out the inspection yesterday in the morning. We will clean up the door, put new logo and poster back. We will continue our political action for the city and in support of the candidate for mayor Giorgio Vindigni without any hesitation – writes the party secretariat in a note -. The seats of parties, movements and associations of any kind are secular temples of democracy, places for exercising freedom of thought and participation. The legitimate juxtaposition of various political ideas cannot ignore this. Never. We condemn a cowardly and intimidating gesture, which we return to the sender, even if unknown. “
The reactions
The mayor of Scicli Enzo Giannone: “The headquarters of the Democratic party of Scicli was the subject of an act of vandalism by unknown persons. It is a gesture of pure illiteracy and stupidity against which the condemnation of the mayor of Scicli Enzo Giannone is firm. “
Mario Marino, city councilor and candidate for mayor: “As soon as I have having heard of the vandalism that affected the headquarters of the Circolo of the Democratic Party of Scicli and the manifesto of the candidate for Mayor Vindigni, I phoned Councilor Vindigni to express, personally and of my entire coalition, solidarity for what happened. The city rejects these useless provocations which cannot in any way be tolerated by those who care about democracy and freedom. “
