Paris Saint-Germain will face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League. Although PSG was strengthened by many star players, Madrid was ready to stop it.
PSG will be a tough test for Madrid in the Champions League considering the talents they have. Les Parisiens have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in attack.
Not to mention other top players such as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi, to Angel Di Maria. With the squad they have, PSG is predicted to be one of the candidates to win the Champions League this season.
However, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois did not shrink with the line of star players owned by PSG. According to him, star players are not a guarantee of success in the Champions League.
“PSG have great players like Messi, Mbappe, Neymar … but it’s more than that,” Courtois told AS newspaper.
“They have talent on all fronts, but football is now more about teams than individuals because if you’re afraid it can be complicated.”
“It’s true that talented players can score goals from unexpected situations, but we have to worry more about stopping them as a team,” Courtois said.
PSG will host the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Parc des Princes on 15 February. Real Madrid will host PSG at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 9.
