Third match in five days for the Under 19s of the PFV (to recover part of the matches postponed for Covid) and third defeat suffered, this time by Arona Basket which won 37-70 at the Bertinetti gym, at the end of a match that , beyond the final gap, it was fought during the whole forty minutes.

The Vercelli, still in emergency (with four “long-term patients” out), had to give up even Chillini, who was injured, but saw the return of Carolina Momo, albeit still not in the best of physical condition after quarantine.

The approach to the match was good by Adriana Coralluzzo’s girls, who held out in the first quarter (11-15) and during most of the second (19-38) before giving in to the opponent’s counterattack and greater precision at the shooting of the Aronesi.

In the second half of the match, then, the guests brought the score to +30 already in the 3rd quarter (27-57), keeping it in the final 10 ‘(12-13 the partial), taking advantage of the errors in the shooting of the Vercelli and putting sign, as mentioned, several counter-attacks on which the PFV just could not resist, and which – in the end – made a large part of the difference.

All in all a positive test, as the Vercelli coach commented at the end of the match, in which there was a great commitment by all the girls who took the field, and some improvement in the defensive phase, despite the too many counter-attacks granted, and the research to put into practice what you have tried in training, when you can do it regularly these days.

To underline the performance of Catherine Ifa Uwaidae (2004), author of 17 points and several assists to her teammates and, above all, always present and attentive in defense, where she “saved” various dangerous situations.

Some of the other “veterans” are still a little overshadowed, especially in the returns to defense, from which, of course, something more is always expected.
