The Slovak Hockey Federation reports that for the weekend, Covid-19 striker Peter Cehlārik, who was the fifth most successful player at the World Championships in Riga last year, tested positive.
Cehlarik will be further tested and evaluated for his participation in the Olympic Games, which the Slovak national team will attend on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Swedish national team reports that defenders Emil Djus and Erik Gustafson have had positive Covid-19 tests and will be replaced by Teodor Lennström and Philip Holm.
According to the latest regulations of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), each national unit can bring an additional six reserve players to the Beijing Olympics in addition to the 25 players.
The Latvian national team will open the Olympic Games tournament on February 10, when it will meet with Sweden, a day later it will compete with Finland, and on February 13 it will fight Slovakia.
The Beijing Olympics will take place from February 4 to 20.
