Medal-winning judokas received at Max-Jacob

As part of the Olympic and Paralympic week, the Max-Jacob college received three great judokas.

Audrey Gaborit, PE teacher at Max-Jacob college, had submitted the idea to Stéphane Counil, deputy principal, to invite judokas, members of the French Paralympic team, so that they meet the third-grade students. Former member of the USO judo, champion himself, he naturally validated the project and, on Thursday, three athletes and their coach came to discuss with the students in the large auditorium of the college.

The importance of the mind

Prescillia Lézé, visually impaired, double French judo champion, Youssef El Hirech, visually impaired, European vice-champion of the Youth Paralympic Games and Raphaël Ourednik, 2021 world deaf champion were accompanied by their coach, Cyril Pagès, trainer member of the French Paralympic team since 2013. Impressed by these high-level athletes, the young people nevertheless asked them many questions.

Supporting their presentation on a video of Teddy Riner, Olympic champion, ten times world champion, known to all, “who we see in training”, and on another of Clarisse Agbegnenou, Olympic champion, five times world which, “after a year of suffering, sees its efforts rewarded by obtaining a gold medal at the last Olympics”, the athletes insisted on the benefits of sport in their lives. They proved by their example that efforts are always rewarded, while insisting on the importance of the mind, the fight against discouragement, differences and tolerance.
